Dominic Dixon

Dominic finds that a two-pronged approach works best for meaningful action; it involves marrying science-based action with plain and effective language that people can understand. At thinkstep-anz, he focuses primarily on communicating the sustainability work we do with case studies and reports, along with supporting the wider corporate carbon team.

While Dominic has been interested in the environmental sustainability scene for some time, it was a hockey trip to Lucknow, India that opened his eyes to the social inequalities exacerbated by environmental issues such as waste. Soon after, he started working in recycling and circular economy initiatives for Reclaim, a recycling company and supplier of recyclable resources in New Zealand. The role helped him understand the circular economy, greenhouse gas monitoring, commercial-scale waste minimisation, and environmental management systems. Dominic also worked on ‘Recycling Week’, Reclaim’s high-profile community event which aims to minimise waste.

Dominic holds a Bachelor of Science,  having studied at both the University of Otago and the University of Auckland.

Originally from the Hawke’s Bay region, the avid hockey player now represents New Zealand on the international stage as goalkeeper for national hockey team the Black Sticks. In his downtime, he enjoys spending time outside and focusing on nutrition.
